Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
