Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from that period of that year.

Success also signifies he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
