The star has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the trust for venues, which functions to preserve the UK's independent concert spaces.

He was awarded the prize on October 16 as his third album the album was named the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has decided to give the cash to the MVT, in recognition of the essential function small stages played in his early career.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing my current career if it hadn't been for all the gigs I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," stated Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these spaces have shut down – about 16% of the entire UK sector.

Recently, well-known musicians such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by adding a small levy to their admission fees, which goes to help local stages.

Sam Fender also joined in, generating more than £100,000 on his recent tour to support numerous small stages across Britain.

The money supported spaces that were confronting possible closure due to challenges arising from water damage, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations received funding support in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that directly benefitted artists and concertgoers.

"The idea that revenue from concerts in big venues helps the smaller venues, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just common sense," Fender has said.

He is not the first artist to contribute his award prize money to good deeds.

Back when the band received the award in the year 1996 for their record Different Class, vocalist the singer declared that the band would donate their winnings to the organization War Child.

That year, artist Ms Dynamite split her award across several charities, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also contributed a grand to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they required new equipment," she shared with the media.

Two years ago, they donated their funds to the community center that supported their group, alongside other local music groups.

And winners that year the group gave their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the illness.

"The victory was sufficient," said singer Heather Small. "The cash was the bonus but we could do without the cherry, because we had the honor. So our victory impacted somebody else's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had protected two local spots in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The first in the city and the second in the city were bought under the community ownership program, which is supported by the arts council and supporters who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
